Milwards was a store where Sheila Birling and her mother went shopping habitually. But everything changed to Eva went Sheila entered to buy a new dress. -
Sheila was shopping and trying on dresses but her chosen dress didn't suit her. It made her felt distress because of her insecurity. Eva brought up the dress and Sheila caught her smiling at the assistant. Sheila complained if Eva wasn't fired they would never shop there again. At the end of January, when Eva felt she was settling down, she was fired due to a customer complained. she decided she might as well try another kind of life so she changed her name to Daisy Renton.

Daisy Renton met Gerald Croft at the Palace Variety Theatre. When they met again two nights later, Gerald realized that she didn´t have money and she was going to be turned out of the lodgings. Therefore, he insisted her on moving into a friend's rooms that were left to his care. She became his mistress. Gerald became the most important person in her life.

In the first week of September, Gerald had to go away for several weeks, they broke off before he went. As a result, Eva had to move out of those rooms. Gerald gave ger enough money to see through to the end of the year.

One night of November, Eva met Eric in the Palace bar. He slept with her and they embarked on a short casual relationship. She got pregnant. Eric supported her with stolen money until she refused to take any more to protect him.

Eva appealed to Mrs Birling organization for help, calling herself Mrs Birling. Despite of Mrs. Birling knew that Eva was pregnant and the child’s father was stealing to give her money. Mrs Birling thought she was impertinent and convinced the others on the board to reject her case.
