    The necklace was set in 1888 in France with Mathilde Loisel who is a young beautiful women who struggles with her place in society (middle class) she is married to Monsieur Loisel who is a clerk
  • Rising Action

    Every year Mathilde husband get 2 invites from his boss to a fancy upper class ball/party. Mathilde was not happy because she had nothing to wear so her husband gave for 400 fracs for dress. Mathilde went back to her husband and said she had no jewelry so her husband said go borrow some for her upper class friend. Mathilde borrows a beautiful necklace for the ball.

    When Mathilde was at the party she was having the time of her life everyone was saying how beautiful and gorgeous she was and how they had to talk to her. After the ball/party her husbands goes to put a wrap around her but she said no because it reminds her of what she can't have or be. Soon after she relies she lost the friends necklace she borrowed. Her husband and Mathilde look everywhere but could not find it so they took out a loan for 136,00 francs to buy a new necklace to replace it
  • conflict

    After returning the necklace she brought to replace the old one to her friend. Mathilde and her husband have now become in debt and have to let go of all her servants whilst her husband get a second job to pay back the money. After 10 years of hard work Mathilde runs into her friends and ends up telling her that she lost her necklace and brought a new one for her Mathilde friends was shocked because the necklace Mathilde borrowed was fake and only worth 500 francs

    Mathilde relies that the upper class can be fake and all the hard work she had done over 10 years just the pay back the debt of the necklace that her friend probably won't wear because she is so well off in terms of money was not worth it but it showed her but hard work is and how hard It actually is
