  • The Rough Night

    Madame Loisel and her husband take a cab back to their house from the reception. Somewhere in the cab they lose the necklace. They don't realize it is missing until they get home. Loisel searches for it throughout the night, but has no luck.
  • The Replacement

    The couple search every where for a store that sells the exact necklace. They finally find one, and buy the necklace for thirty six thousand francs. The couple did not have that money, so they had to use their money that they had inherited plus some more that Loisel borrowed.
  • The Return

    Madame Loisel takes Madame Forestier the new necklace. She doesn't even notice any difference.
  • The Frightful Debt

    To make up the debt, Madame Loisel learned how to do the heavy housework, moved to a house that they could rent, and spent the next ten years working to pay it off.
  • Reunited

    Madame Loisel goes on a walk and sees Madame Forestier, still young looking, unlike herself. She tells her the whole story. But Madame Forestier tells her that the first necklace wasn't even worth a lot of money, only 500 francs.
