The Necklace

  • exposition- the poor and the rich

    The Women (Mathilde) was introduced to us, she was one of those pretty and charming girls, but was also mistaken of destiny, born in a family of clerks, her husband supported her but didn't understand her fustration of being unsatisifed with her life.
  • inciting incident- chain reactions of events.

    Monsieur Loisel got a invitation to the affluent party for his wife Mathlide. However, she was unhappy and sad she had no clothes, or jewerly for the occasion. Her husband gave his hunting money and the money he had for his guns so she could buy a brand new dress. She then borrow a diamond necklace from Madame Forestier.
  • rising actions- the characters problems become more complex

    Mathlide attened te party and was having the best time of her life. She drew every man and womans attention. The loisels rapidly left at 4 in the morning. When they arrived home together Mathlide noticed that the necklace was gone. She started a uttered cry.
  • climax- greatest tention point with the protagonist and antagonist.

    Mathilde informed the friend she borrowed the necklace from that she'd return the necklace later then expected. The Loisels went looking for the necklace for a little over a week and they found one very similar to the necklace they lost for 36.000 francs. Loisel took the money he inherrited from his father and borrowed the rest to replace the necklace.
  • falling action- the story shifts to action because of the result.

    The Loisels had to pay the debt off. For 10 years of their lifes. Mathilde had to take care of all the housework, while her husband had to work more than he already was. Mathilde lost her good looks and seemed older now.
  • resolution- the haracter solves the problem or conflict.

    Mathilde walked along the champs-elysees and met Madame Forestier, Who looked young and beautiful like how she used to look. She reappraoched her friend about the diamond necklace and she was shocked to find out that the original necklace was fake.
  • Denouement- finding the 'end'

    Mathlide, realised that she had just spent 10 years of her life repaying something back that wasn't worth as much as it was presented. Mathlide slaved for 10 years and her husband picked up extra jobs to what he already had and gather some of his fathers inheritence and borrow money from other places and people.
