Letter to FDR
Albert Einstein was persuaded to write a letter to the president, Franklin Roosevelt, to inform him of the research being conducted by Enrico Fermi and Leo Szilard. He told FDR that Uranium can be used as a power source in the very near future. -

Control Rods Source Fermi, at The University of Chicago created a controlled juclear chain reaction. He used Cadmium rods to absorb the neutrons and was able to use the rods to regulated the speed of fission and was able to create a self-sustaining chain reaction that provided a steady source of energy.
