William Chomsky and Elsie Simonofsky gave birth to Avram Noam Chomsky In Philadelphia Pennsylvania on December 7th, 1928. Noam grew up naturally opinionated, outspoken, and inquisitive. He wrote his first editorial for a school newspaper about the fall of Barcelona in 1939 at the age of 10 and He frequented libraries in New York at the age of 13, Where he meet influential friends that shaped his anarcho-Libertarian-Socialism political views for the rest of his life.

At just 16, Noam begins his tenure at the University of Pennsylvania where he is persuaded to specialize in Linguistics by another famous linguist, Zellig S. Harris. This begins his highly accomplished career as one of the most influential linguists in history.

While working on his masters, Chomsky published the “Logical Structure of Linguistic Theory” in 1951, which discarded the idea that the mind at birth is a Tabula Rasa (blank slate) and instead, introduces the concept that due to the structure of the brain, language Patterns are innately comprehensible in a basic form at birth, explaining why children can pick up a language so quickly. This idea transformed Linguistics, and is why Chomsky is widely regarded as the father of modern Linguistics.

Chomsky got his Ph.D. In 1955, and in 1956 he got a job teaching at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chomsky has always been very outspoken politically and published his first book on dissent of American Interventionism in Vietnam in 1969. He criticizes the government‘s lust for economic control of growing nations and the unnecessary horrors of war it introduces.

Chomsky published his views on US, Israel, and Palestinian relations in his 1983 book, The Fateful Triangle. He explains the history that lead to the current situation and introduces many statistics backing his opinion while criticizing the US and Israel’s handling of Palestine.

9-11 became a best seller. This controversial book won Chomsky much fame among the general population. He criticizes US Interventionism by presenting historical facts showcasing the ineffective track record of the US’s foreign policy and how these continued interventions will lead to more attacks in the future. Chomsky boldly goes against society’s general opinion, claiming 9/11 was but a sample of what the US does to other countries, yet we don’t commit those atrocities to memory.

Noam Chomsky was appointed as a professor at University of Arizona in Fall 2017, were he currently teaches Linguistics. According to Chomsky, he spends 20 hours per week Reading and responding to letters, fans and critics alike. He continues to voice his political opinions, attacking President Trump and political corruption.
