The Life and Times of Mrs. Burchett

  • Birth of Me

    Diane was born April 7, 1964 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri to mother, Linda, 21 and father, Stanley 25 at 4:20 pm. She was their first child and only daughter.
  • Birth of Michael and Steven

    Two years later, Linda gave birth to her first son, Michael Joseph who she named after her paternal grandfather, Papa Mike. Twenty two months later, Steven Charles was born March 18, 1968. The Boraz family was complete.
  • Elementary Years

    Elementary Years

    The family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota because Stanley, a salesman was transferred. Diane attended first grade there, but the family relocated shortly thereafter to Akron, Ohio where she grew up.
  • Elementary Years-High School Graduation

    Diane attended Case Elementary School from second grade through 6th grade. She went to Litchfield Junior High from 7th grade through 9th grade. She then went onto Firestone High School, where she graduated in 1982. That year she accompanied her teacher, Judy White to London, England on 2 1/2 journey that was the beginning of her exploration of the world.
  • College Years

    She attended Bowling Green State University from 1982-1986, earning a degree in Communications. Her plan was to become a Journalist, but that never came to fruition. She wanted to follow her father's footsteps in sales, because she loved people and could interact with anyone. However, that was short lived, as she floundered in the field and was fired from not one, but two jobs. She decided sales was not for her and changed gears.
  • Twenties and Thirties

    Diane moved back to Akron since she considered that her home. She had a number of temporary jobs to pay the bills. She ended up working as the Community Service Coordinator for Physicians and Surgeons Ambulance Company where she became involved with the public school system. It was at that time she decided to become a teacher. However, her dream did not come true until many years later.
  • Thirties-Thirty Five

    After spending a short time in the Bahamas, she relocated to Ypsilanti, Michigan where her brother Michael and his girlfriend Michelle were living and working. Again, she worked several temporary jobs and finally landed a permanent job working as an Administrative Assistant for The University of Michigan at the Office For Automotive Transportation for several years.
  • Back to School

    That year, I went to Eastern Michigan University where I earned my Teaching Certificate and my real career began. I student taught in third grade, received my first permanent job at Adams Elementary School in first grade when I started in October, 2003 after their teacher had retired. The following year, I moved up to third grade where I spent the next few years until I was transferred to another school back to first grade. I soon found out that early reading, writing and math were NOT my jam.
