    Mandan and Hidatsas are indians. the captains decided to build fort Mandan across the river from the main Indian village

  • Fort Mandan completed

    their expedition goes into winter

    majority voted to go across to the South Side of Columbia River to build them.

  • Lewis comes across the "great falls of missouri"

    he discovered more waterfalls the farther upstream he went. that expedition went over 18 miles,taking almost a month.

  • Lewis discovered Shoshones village

    he tried to negotiate for horses.they found out the Shoshone chief Cameahwait is Sacagaweas brother. they named the site "Camp Fortunate."

  • expedition reaches the Columbian River

  • Lewis and Clark reach St. Louis

  • begins the journey home

  • Lewis commits suicide

    at an Inn South of Nashville

  • Sacagawea dies

    at fort Manuel. Clark got custody of her daughter Jean Baptiste and her daughter Lisette.

  • William Clark dies

    at his oldest son Meriwethers house.
