President Truman had Given General MacArthur many warnings about carrying out military actions without his permission, but General MAcArthur's strong-headedness clashed with Truman's apprehensive ways of advancing in military actions. When MacArthur had pulled the final straw, Truman formally discharged him and replaced him with General Ridgeway. In a poll, it was later discovered that 69% of the public was outraged by tis decision gaining Truman ridicule from the public.
