    The Treaty of Versailles
    The Treaty of Versailles war targeted at Germany by Britain, France, and the United States. Germany is forced to lose Alsace-Lorraine to France, the Polish Corridor, and Upper Silesia to Poland, Denmark, and Belgium, and forbidden to unite with Austria. The German army must stay lower than 100,000, and the can not go into the Rhineland. They also have to make heavy reparations payments for damage caused in the war.
  • The League of Nations

    The League of Nations
    The League of Nations went into place as a peacekeeping organization. There were many countries that either chose not to join like the US, or some were not invited including Germany and the Soviet Union.
  • The Communist International

    The Communist International
    The Communist International, gained some leverage to break apart the European Socialist parties and create a Communist party in each country. They integrated the Bolshevik party model, and most obey direction from Moscow.
  • Fascism in Italy

    Fascism in Italy
    Mussolini became the Prime Minister of Italy. His regime inspired other speakers to take action in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. He did not control Italy at first, but later he became the leader of diplomacy in Italy.

    This was an era of good international relations with other countries. The reparations for Germany to pay were lowered. Germany joined the League of Nations
  • Stalin in Power in Russia

    Stalin in Power in Russia
    Stalin defeats the last of his major rivals for power in the period after Lenin's death. He became the leader of the USSR. Stalin brought forced industrialization, brutal police repression, and purges. He had a deeply suspicious attitude toward the outside world while wanting to cause mass revolution. He was merciless with the opposition to socialism and to himself.

    The Great Depression
    There was an extreme stock market crash in the United States. Many European countries directly or indirectly depended on the money of the United States. This led to large scale economic depression around the world. There were very few places untouched.
  • Japan invades Manchuria

    Japan started a war with China in the Chinese region of Manchuria. The Great Depression hit Japan hard. The Japanese turned to the strength of the military as opposed to a politician. They took the entirety as its own after becoming victorious.
  • German Third Reich

    German Third Reich
    This was the era that Hitler came into power and the Nazis controlled. Before Hitler came to power, he used this as a propaganda tool which led Germans to believe that this will be the third emergence as a power for Germany. The Nazis won over the German and became the leading party of Germany.

    Germany leaves the League of Nations and withdrawment conference. This leaves an ominous feeling that the Germans are up to something, and that they no longer want to have peace.
