The Inter-war Years (1918- Present)

  • World War 1

    World War 1 (1914-1918) mostly took place on the western front & was a trench warfare. It was involved with multiple nations. This time of the Great War was tough on everyone and was majorly hard and a depessed time for the families of the soldiers that were fighting. Unfortunatly, over 8 million soliders died and a similar number of cilivilans were also killed through the war, starvation, and disease.
  • Pairs Peace Conference

    Pairs Peace Conference leading to the treaty of Versailles is where the establishment of the League of Nations came from.
  • The Great Depression

    1929-1932 was a time of extreme harship and devestation for many people. This depression started from the crash of market prices and lasted all the way up to the second World War. Unemployment soon rised in the industralised nations, which them followed by the American stock exchanged which collapsed. When this collapse occured everyone like stockbrokers, business men and investors, lost everything
  • Adolf Hitler comes to power

    On the 5th of March 1933 a historic day, Adolf Hitler came into power in Germany. This was extreamly important for the country of Germany as the yaers early when being defeated in World War 1 made the Germans lack confidence in the government and it was pretty grim. This was until Adolf Hitler promised a better life and a new and glorious Germany. In 1934 is when Hilter was offically in power.

    Nazi Germany Invades Poland, triggering World War II in Europe.
  • Pearl Harbour Attack

    On the Pacific island of Oahu, at 7:55am, an unexpected attack of Japanese aircrafts which came in two waves of force caused great damage at Peral Harbour. Here it was were over 2,400 Americans were killed. Unfortunatly, the attacks had been slowly brewing for years.

  • Communist Party wins power in China

    From the 1920's China had been fighting in the civil war and Mao Zedong helped to develop military and political strategies that eventually won the civil war in 1949.
  • The Vietnam War (1955-1975)

    The Vietnam War (1962-1975). Australians involvement in the war was the longest duration of any war in Australians history. 60,000 Australians served in this war with 521 aussie who died, and 3,000 wounded.
  • Martin Luther King

    Martin Luther King leader of the American Civil Rights movement, is assassinated. This terrible event that occured caused a massive wave of riots in the streets.
  • September 11 (911)

    Terrorist attacks on New York & Washington DC, USA, triggering the US-led war on terrorism.
  • Julia Gillard

    Australia's first female prime minister, Julis Gillard, is granted power.
