Dan Brown was assigned to teach in Bronx, New York through the Teach For America program. He turned in his key to his dorm at New York University were he studied film and went to a placement fair for specific assignments 15 hours after. He taked to a plcement coordinator and was eventually placed in the P.S. 85 in the Bronx. -

This was Mr. Brown's first day as a school teacher in the Bronx. He had high expectations for his students and a lot of training and help from others in his program from the weeks prior. He had his classroom collectively create the rules, and he was very surprized by how well they explained and came up with the rules. During the first lesson, reading aloud, he had his first outburst and loss of control over most of the class. -

After a horrible Holloween Party experience, Dan Brown was in a dark place with feeling like there is nothing else he can do for the children in his class. He called in sick a couple of the days following. This low was a rollercoaster ride for all of November into Decenmber with children leaving the classroom without permission and disrespectful children. -

The students are taking a test over three days. Mr Brown did all he could to prepare them for the test and gave them a great speach about how confident and proud he was of them. He and other teachers saw how much more difficult the test was from the practice ones, and left them feeling like their children were very unprepared. -

A school in the Bronx attemts to protect students by placing metal detectors in the high school. There has been intances when sub teachers get their hair set on fire, to stabbings with box cutters. -

Mr Brown recieved a new student transfer from another classroom. The other teacher did nto want her in her classroom because she doen't do her work and she told Mr. Brown that she deservied to be left back. Mr Brown was very unhappy with the way this teacher and others actions, so he took it upon himself to find a solution for the transfers issues. -

No shootings reported for a week, when the same week a year prior was one of the worst shooting weeks of the year. -
