The author introduces Violet. At the time, she is going to another detention center. She ends up accidentally killing a girl. While Violet thinks she is going to be killed for her actions, the Queen needs her for a mission. -

Violet meets the Queen. She tells Violet that Matrus' prize possession, an egg, was stolen by the rival side, Patrus. The Queen told Violet that she was looking for someone that was good at defending herself to go over and retrieve the egg. In order to go over to Patrus, she has to fake marry a man named Lee. The queen finished giving Violet the details about the mission. -

Before Violet went over to Patrus, the Queen insisted for her to go through defensive training with an old friend of Violet, Ms. Dale. -

Violet enters Patrus and meets Lee, her soon to be new husband. After Violet got settled into Lee's house, they went to the courthouse to get married. -

Violet and Lee go to a bar with some of Lee's co-workers. Violet sees her cousin and runs into the alley to avoid getting her cover blown. Men began to approach Violet with the intent that she wasn't married. Viggo swoops in to save Violet from being hurt. -

Violet goes undercover as a man to plat a tracker in Viggos water. This way Lee and Violet can watch where Viggo goes. (The plan made by the Queen involved framing Viggo for the crime of stealing back the egg) -

Violet began spending time at the boxing arena to keep an eye on Viggo. One day Viggo caught her dressed as a man. Lee sets up an arrangement where violet spends the days with Viggo while he is away at work. -

Violet and Viggo continue to hang out together. Violet goes on patrol with Viggo one day just to see what it was like. They end up finding a severely injured woman who had been recently kidnapped. Violet is able to stop one of the guys responsible and takes him to jail. The other guys in the gang saw and got angry. -

One night, Violet goes to one of Viggo's boxing match. But before it could start Violet gets kidnapped. The kidnappers turn out to be the same guys from the gang. They ended up torturing her very badly before Viggo could show up and save her. He cleans off all of her blood in a near creek and takes her to the hospital. -

Violet realizes that she has feelings for Viggo and has second thoughts about framing him for stealing the egg. One night she takes Lee's motorcycle and drives it to Viggo's house. She planned on telling Viggo their secret but Violet found out that Lee secretly put a tracker in her water. So Lee knew she was at Viggos and warned her that if she told him, he would kill Viggo. So, Instead of telling Viggo, Violet kissed him. Viggo kissed back and they kissed until Lee knocked on the door. -

The night before the event, where Lee and Violet would steal the egg, arrived. Violet still didn't want to frame Viggo for the crime. So Lee gave her a pill that temporarily took away her emotions. That way she could get the job done without feeling bad about it. -

The event came and while Lee made sure all of the explosives were in place, Violet got ready for the ball. The time came for the explosions to go off. Violet successfully retrieved the egg and waited for Lee on the roof. -

Lee arrives with a homemade flying motorcycle to pick up Violet. They arrive at Matrus with the egg. Lee tells Violet to wait outside on the roof while he goes and privately talks to the queen and her assistant. -

Lee returns to the roof and takes the egg so Violet can go talk to the Queen. Violet walks in, only to find both the Queen and her assistant DEAD! She realizes that Lee had killed them. She ran back to the roof to find Lee escaping with the egg. -

Lee is trying to escape but Violet runs after him. She jumps on the motorcycle and fights with Lee. Lee ends up losing his balance and falling to his death. So now, Violet is riding to some unknown place with the egg and three people's lives on her hands. She thinks and realizes that she cannot return to either side because she committed a crime worth the punishment of death in both Matrus and Patrus. So she rides and wonders where the plane is taking her.
