  • The Battle of Jumonville Glen

    The Battle of Jumonville Glen
    This battle was fought in Western PA between 40 Virginians (led by George Washington) and the Canadian militia. This led to the killing of Jumonville (Canadian). Although the battle was victorious for the Virginians, Washington had unknowingly signed a document saying that he assasinated Jumonville, so then the Canadians made many accusations to Washington.
  • Albany Congress (Plan of Union)

    Albany Congress (Plan of Union)
    The Albany Congress was a British plan (provided by Benjamin Franklin) to unite 12 of the 13 colonies under one central government. The discussion lasted from June 19 to July 11, 1754. The plan was never put into action because of its rejection from the colonists. However, it was a starting point for future American government.
  • Attack on Fort Necessity

    Attack on Fort Necessity
    Fort Necessity was being built by the British in the Forks of Ohio to lay claim to the disputed area. As it was being built, the French ambushed the fort, and the British surrendered it. This is important because it was revenge for Jumonville's death in May, which was a few months earlier.

    Braddock's Defeat at Fort Duquesne
    General Braddock led 1,850 British men in attempt to capture Fort Duquesne, previously Fort Necessity. The attack rendered disastrous for them, since the French and Indians surprise attacked them, ending in Braddock's death a few days later. Since it ended with the French still in control of West, it was a major loss for the British during the French and Indian War

    Massacre at Fort William Henry
    The British, unarmed, were in the process of leaving the fort when the French and their Indian allies attacked. They killed any British person they could, even women, children, and the ill. It was consider one of the bloodiest days in American history.
  • Forbes Expedition

    Forbes Expedition
    Forbes Expedition was yet another British attempt to capture Fort Duquesne. It took place in the summer. (exact date is unknown) Forbes had soon after decided to postpone the attack until spring, but then changed his mind. When he and his men arrived at the fort, they found that it was deserted and burned to the ground. Forbes then rebuilt it and named it Fort Pitt, and now the British had a new important fort for their battle with the French.
  • Plains of Abraham

    Plains of Abraham
    The Battle of the Plains of Abraham was a very important battle during the French and Indian War. It was the site of Quebec's surrender. The French General Montcalm was foolish in his attack strategy, and the British obtained Quebec.
  • Surrender of Vaudreuil

    Surrender of Vaudreuil
    After the British took Quebec, Marquis Vaudreuil tried to resist any further British attempts to obtain French land. He failed to do so, and Vaudreuil ended up having to surrender Montreal to the British. Many French returned to France, and those who remained were granted the ability to keep practicing their Roman Catholic religion.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Great Britain, France, Spain, and Portugal all signed the Treaty of Paris in agreement. The treaty ended the French and Indian War, and concluded that Great Britain had won the war. This began great British power outside of Europe.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    Pontiac's Rebellion
    (exact day isn't known) Pontiac's Rebellion was an Indian uprising against the British ways and policies. Their goal was to drive the British out of the area. Peace negotiations ended the rebellion, and the British altered the policies that the Indians were unsatisfyed with.
