    The first Philippine newspaper was established in 1811 which was the Del Superior Govierno and was published with the Spanish Governor General himself as editor. Its intended readers were the local Spaniards and therefore the content was primarily news from Spain. The first daily newspaper was La Esperanza (1846), and was made for the Spanish elite.

    The Lumiere brothers' cinematography film camera and projector invention made its way to the Philippines and showed the Filipinos Spanish-language short films. Carlo Naquera, a spanish soldier, was the one who brought the revolutionary invention in the Philippines during 1897. The very first filipino film was created by Jose Nepomuceno during 1919 and was named "Dalagang bukid".

    The broadcast industry was introduced to the Philippines started with the introduction of telegraph and telephone system in the country. The first telephone system in the Philippines began its operations during 1890. It was Henry Herman who first operated a small radio station at Cebu city in 1922 and was called the Electrical Supply Company.

    The Philippines was officially connected to the world of the internet in the year of 1994 with the efforts of Philippine Network Foundation. During August 1994, the first commercial internet service provider was launched by Mosaic Communications or MosCom, making it possible for Filipinos to accses the internet.
