Anne Frank and her family are forced to go into hiding earlier because of Margot's call up. The hiding place was located in Mr. Frank's office building. This relates to the theme because Anne's environment is changing, and she will have to adapt to it, which results in she herself changing as well. This is a turning event because her entire environment is changing.

Anne when talking with her father, tells him that she loves him more than she lover her mother. She says that she can't stand how he mother nitpick-its her, and criticizes her very openly and without remorse. This relates to the theme statement because, as Anne is growing up, her experiences and interactions with the people around her, changes her, and her thought, feelings, and beliefs. This is character development because this impacts how she acts around her mother.

The members of the Annex heard some buglers in the Office downstairs and were were all quiet in fear of being discovered. This is one of the first times Anne feels the suffocating fear and is aware of the constant danger that they are in. This is related to the theme statement because the change of her environment leaves Anne with new discoveries and learning something she didn't know before. This is a turning event because this changes the direction of the story.

Anne has a nightmare about Hanneli and she is confronted with the knowledge that she had treated her harshly and misjudged her. Anne realizes that she was being selfish and not at all as morally good as she once thought she was. This relates to the theme, because as Anne is getting older, she becomes wiser and knowledgeable that her previous actions were not as harmless and good as she had perceived them to be. This spurs character development since she is impacted with her past actions

Anne reads through her diary and is shocked at how she described her Mother with such hate and begins to realize that she took a lot of what her Mother said to heart and over reacted because of it. This relates to the theme statement because Anne is developing as she ages and her feelings and beliefs change as the people around her do too. This event spurs character development because this impacts her as she is confronted on how she used to be.

Anne is starting to hang out with Peter and is able to ask questions that she never imagined she would ever comfortably ask a boy. As she hangs out with Peter, she becomes less lonely and starts to have feelings for him. She begins to slowly have him open up to her, and together they talk for hours. This relates to the theme statement because now that she hangs out with Peter, he is starting to influence her. This is character development because this friendship is influencing her feelings.

Peter finally kisses Anne and she become way happier then could be expected in the current situation that she is in. This is related to the Theme Statement because previously while she was always cranky and depressed, this relationship keeps her feeling elated. This is character development event because this event changed the way Anne feels in her daily life.

Anne and the rest of the Secret Annex are found by the Police and were arrested and sent to concentration camps. This relates to the theme statement because the environment that Anne was now in (concentration camp) diminished her hopes and dreams. I believe this is a turning vent because this event changed her story form a girl in hiding to a girl in a miserable camp.
