    The scene is in Betty's bedroom. Mercy suggests to Abigail to beat Betty to wake her up. When Betty does wake up, she screams that she wants her mama and tries to escape but Abigail smashes her face and she falls again.

    Putnam askes Hale for help with waking Betty. Hale thinks a possibility could be that she is possessed by the devil. Parris says that he seen something in the soup where the girls were dancing and it could had effected Betty.

    Mary Warren goes to Salem despite Proctor forbidding her to go. When she returns, Proctor threatens to beat her. She tells Proctor that Goody Osburn will be hanged. Elizabeth's name was mentioned in the courts.

    Hale enters the room with Proctor and Elizabeth. He tells them they should fix their religious affairs, including baptizing their third child. Proctor tells Hale that the children's sickness has nothing to do with witchcraft. Later on, Giles enters and tells that his wife and Rebecca were charged for murder.

    Cheever enters the room and tells that Abigail has charged Proctor's wife for sticking a needle in her using a poppet. A poppet is found in the house with a needle inside of it, but it is Mary Warren's. Elizabeth is arrested on the spot.

    Now inside of the Salem meeting house, which has turned into a courtroom, Judge Hathorne is questioning Martha Corey, who denies being a witch. Giles claims that he has evidence, but is taken out of the court. The court feels that Giles is disrespecting them for accusing them of lying about his wife. Danforth later tells Proctor that his wife is pregnant.

    Giles accuses Mr.Putnam for telling his daughter to cry witchery upon George Jacobs. Giles doesn't name the person who gave him the information and Danforth takes him to court. Later on, everyone finds out that Mary Warren was lying in court. Abigail claims that Proctor always kept poppet.

    Proctor admits to having sex with Abigail, calling her a whore. Elizabeth says that she dismissed Abigail because she dissatisfied her and that she thought her husband fancied her. She said that to save her husband's name. Abigail begins to scream and the other girls join her. They claim to see a bird and begins to talk to it. They then copy everything Mary says, as if she has cast a spell on them.

    Herrick removes Tituba from the cell as a guard arrives. Parris tells Danforth that his niece has been vanished. Parris also tells that Abigail and Mercy Lewis have stole from him and ran away.

    Hale arrives and says that there has not been any confessions yet. He hasn't talked to John Proctor yet, the only prisoner he has yet to visit. They will get Elizabeth to visit him to convince him to confess.

    Elizabeth and Proctor are left alone. She informs him that Giles is dead. He was pressed with heavy stones since he refused to plead guilty. Proctor is leaning towards confessing because he wants his life. He signs his name on the paper, but snatches it and rips it apart. Him and Rebecca are then escorted out by Herrick.
