The U-2 was a spy plane for the United states. The U-2 incident was when the u.s spy plane got shot down from invading soviet airspace. This was a civilian who was flying the plane that was photographing aerial reconnaissance. The person lost conciseness when he was in the air and accidentally flew in soviet airspace where he is not allowed. So the soviet union thought it was an attack so they shot the U-2 down.
