Two brothers are carrying backpacks as they turn off Gloucester Street and onto Boylston Street. Boylson Street is close to the finish line of the Boston Marathon. -
2:40 PM
One of the brothers walks to the front of Marathon Sports on Boylston Street and places his backpack, which has a pressure cooker bomb inside it, next to the crowd near the finish line. At this point in time, the Boston Marathon is in its fourth hour. The other brother walks to the front of the Forum restaurant, about a block and a half away, and leaves his backpack with a pressure cooker bomb next to the crowd. -
2:48 PM
The brothers talk to eachother on their prepaid cell phones and have a quick conversation. -
2:49 PM
About 12 after getting off the phone with one another, Dzhokhar sets off the second bomb in front of the Forum restaurant. This kills Lingzi Lu and Martin Richard, and burning and injuring many others. -
8:04 PM
Dzhokhar tweets @J_tsar: "Ain't no love in the heart of the city. Stay safe people" -

Dzhokhar returns to campus at UMass-Dartmouth and then goes to the gym. -

Dzhokhar tweets, "I'm a stress free kind of guy." -

The FBI publishes photos of the bombing suspects on their website from the Marathon. The names of the suspects are not yet public. -
10:00 PM
Sean Collier, an MIT police officer, is shot from behind in the head. The brothers then attempt to take his weapon. Tamerlan is the shooter. -
11:00 PM
Tamerlan points his gun at a man identified only as "D.M.," threatens his life and carjacks his leased Mercedes ML350 SUV. -
12:15 AM
D.M. escapes from the car, runs to another gas station across the street and calls 911. He says police can track the SUV because he left his iPhone in it. The brothers drive to Laurel Street and Dexter Avenue in Watertown, where police try to ambush them. -

Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev have a shoot out with police. Tamerlan is shot and wounded but still alive until Dzhokhar accidently runs him over, -
7 AM- 7 PM
Boston is on lockdown for the whole day. They find Tsarnaev hiding in a boat injured but not armed. -
