Liesel's cloths smoking
Hans notices smoke coming from Liesel's clothing as they walk home from the pile of burning books. -
Offensive Hans
Hans applied to join the Nazi Party but he could not because he commited an offense. Hans painted over anti-semitic slogans on a Jewish house. -
Star of David
The Jews living in Germany are required to wear the yellow star of David. This allowed the Germans to determine who is a Jew and who is not. -
Werner Dead
Werner dies on his train ride with his sister Liesel to his new foster parents home on Himmel Street. -
Roll Cigarettes
On the night Liesel arrives to Himmel street, Hans teaches Liesel how to roll cigarettes. He is very calm and patient with Liesel. -
Do not worry about the body
Hans tells Liesel that he will find a way to move Max's body without suspicion if Max dies. -
Hans gets busy
Hans gets a little painting in. He paints people's window blinds black, for a possible bomb attack. -
Life saving radio
Hans buys a radio from the money he saved. The reason why he bought it was to get a warning in advance about air raids earlier. -
Hans hides a Jew before inspection
Hans hides Max when a Nazi soldier comes to his home to inspect his basement to see if it is deep enough to be a bomb shelter. -
Air raid
An air raid occurs and Hans leaves his accordian at his house for good luck. -
Appearance of Werner
Werner appears to Liesel on the steps of the mayor's house and tells Liesel to go back up and knock on the door to talk to llsa. -
Jewish March
As the Jews are marching through Molching, Hans gives a fallen Jew some bread. A soldier sees this go on and then whipps Hans. -
Werner Imagined
Liesel imagines her brother Werner in her sleep as he is dieing. -
Broken Leg
Hans gets a broken leg when the truck get destroyed. He had switched earlier with Reinhold Zucker which saved his life. -
This is the end
An air raid comes for Himmel street while everyone is sleeping. Everyone dies except for Liesel. Hans dies and Liesel puts his accordian by his side. -
Called into war
Hans gts called into war. Hans gets sent to Stuttgart. Hans's job is to clean up after air raids. -
Hitler dead
Hitler commits suicide on April 30, 1945. Hitler did this because he knew he was losing the war and was forced to surrender.
