    Edna realizes that she is happiest when her kids aren't around. Her kids were sent to visit family and she was totally fine with them not being there.

    Edna learns how to swim and she finds it so exhilarating. She felt she had so much control over her body.

    Robert leaves The Grand Isle without even telling Edna, and then when she finds out he won't tell her the reason or tell her when he is coming back

    Edna has sexual relations with Alcée, she only likes him because he pleases her physical urges.

    Edna decides to move to a smaller place where she can be alone and be an individual. She throws a house warming party, and things get out of hand when Robert's brother sings and ruins her party.

    Robert once again leaves Edna. Edna gives up on life, she walks to the beach takes her bathing suit off and starts swimming into the ocean, exhaustion overcomes her body and she let's the sea take her away.
