    Progressive Education Movement
    This movement was a positive way that many people did what they could to engage all people in society. The social, economic, and political aspects were also very beneficial to many people. The changes can still be seen in schools today in the way schools are trying to integrate the community into the classroom.

  • School Lunch Act

    School Lunch Act
    This act helped to provide students with nutrient filled meals that can result in their daily success. Without this act students would not be able to be actively involved while at school due to little or no nutritional value in some cases. Statistics have shown that students learn better when they have been well fed with nutrient rich foods.

  • Brown V. Board of Education

    Brown V. Board of Education
    This important legal case changed the status quo for the way the African American students were able to learn and to what degree they could obtain knowledge with the cases ruling. While not all at once this was the start of integration of African American students and Caucasian students into the same schools. this eliminated the "separate but equal" schooling that they had previously been exposed to.

  • Sputnik

    Sputnik
    The Soviet Union did this to show that they were advanced in mathematics and science. This also caused the United States to create the National Defense Education Act to attempt to catch up and surpass the Soviet Union. This lead to over a Billion dollars getting put into American schools specifically into mathematics and science departments. Also it created the American STEM programs which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    This was to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Act. This was a way to further the education of those who may be less likely to finish or advance through school. Also it helps those who may struggle to get the knowledge advance even they struggle with certain aspects of school. The tests that are now administered are now built in to many states curriculum and can be seen in a variety of schools across the country.
