    Typewriter
    The typewriter was invented in 1867 by American inventor Christopher Latham Sholes in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This technology helped save time because before the typewriter people would write by hand. The benefit of the typewriter was seen in offices with increased productivity. Latham read an article called Scientific American and this inspired him to invent a typewriter. After signing a contract in 1873, in New York the typewriter in 1892 was known as the Remington Typewriter.

  • Light Bulb

    Light Bulb
    Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1879 in the United States. This new technology helped invent electricity. The light bulb originally started from an English inventor to a Canadian patent to patent in U.S. by Edison. In Edison’s speech in New York, he stated we have seen one electricity act after another which has revolutionized and the nineteenth century was distinct in electrical inventions. In 1881 Edison set up an electric company in Newark and then he moved to New York.

    Radio
    The radio was invented in 1895 by Italian engineer Guglielmo Marconi. He sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895. In 1901 he had his first successful long distance wireless telegraph which he broadcasted the first transatlantic radio signal. The Transatlantic Times in 1899 had written wireless news stating, this is the grand voyage eastward of the “St. Paul”. The radio saved many lives in the titanic. This new technology helped communicate, sell products, and save lives.

    The air conditioner was invented in 1902 by Willis Carrier in Buffalo, New York. This technology helped keep indoors cool. This technology was first in the industries for business leaders that were concerned for the quality of materials. The air conditioner helped materials from being ruined from the heat and humidity. The air conditioner first spread in 1920’s in offices, department stores, and theaters. This technology made it cooler for employee workplaces and helped keep materials safe.

    Traffic Signal
    The traffic signal was invented before; however, the Garrett Morgan was given this credit due to his patent on his T-shaped traffic signal in 1923. He later sold this to General Electric. The world’s first traffic signal was in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1914. Before this technology Americans had chaotic experiences on the roads. The invention of the traffic signal helped with safety of pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles. This technology helped regulate and decrease the number of accidents.
  • Television

    Television
    The television was invented in 1929 by John Logie Baird a Scottish inventor. In 1929, he directed the first BBC broadcasts and entertainment. In January 27, 1926 he gave the first public demonstration of true television system in London. This new technology was useful with keeping up to date with world events such as debates, news, and the Apollo 11 mission and entertainment. The New York Times stated J.L Baird in England and C.F. Jenkins demonstrated television using scanning disks in 1926.
