    French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war was fought between France and Great Britain, not France and India. Mercantilism changed the economic attitude towards the colonies which led to conflict.
  • Proclaimation of 1763

    Created in response to Pontiac's war and forbade colonist from settling across the Appalachian Mountains.

    Placed taxes on Foreign sugar and was designed to raise revenue in the American colonies.

    Was imposed on the american colonist and Required them to pay a tax on most paper goods.

    Aimed at raising revenue of the american colonist and required colonist to provide housing and provisioning of redcoats.
  • Townshend Act

    This act was used to generate revenue and allowed for generals to search for smuggled goods in homes and businesses.
  • Boston Massacre

    Group of colonist were harassing a group of soldiers at their post and the soldiers fired leaving five protesters dead.
  • Committees of correspondence

    Samuel Adams believed that the British were keeping secrets. The committee became the primary form of communication for the colonies.

    In order to relieve the British east India company of their financial problems, the act made the price of their tea cheaper than smuggled tea.
