Susan Brownwell Anthony was born on Febuary 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. When her mom saw she was a girl, she said "I wish she wasn't a girl."

When Susan was 6, she moved to Battonvill, New York. When she became a young woman, she taught school. In 1848, though, she was kicked out because she complained about her pay.

In the 1850s, Anthony got involved in the Temprance Movement, which fought alcohol abuse. She also got involved in the Abolitionist Movement, which fought against slavery. She spoke at public meetings. While she did that, she began to take interest in wemen`s rights.

When Susan B. Anthony voted illeaglly in 1872, she drew attention to wemen`s rights. She did not pay her fines, though, when she was arrested.

Susan B. Anthony died on March 13, 1906 in Rochester New York. She did not live to the day when wemen could vote.
