  • Proclamation of 1763

    Was issued after the French and Indian war by King George III. It forbade settlers to settle past an imaginary line drawn along the appalachian mountains.

    An act that was supposed to raise revenue. Basically, it halved the tax on molasses and sugar but it was even more strictly enforced. It was also a factor thar led to the American Revolution.

    An act that allowed the british soldiers to be quartered in peoples houses during the French and Indian War. Helped with the movement toward the American Revolution.

    Boston had boycotted the purchase of tea and had not returned 3 shiploads of tea back to Britain. A group of colonists from Boston went on the ship and destroyed millions of dolloars worth of tea. This remained an iconic event in American History.

    The first military engagement of the American revolution. At lexington the Colonials were defeated but that was where the "Shot heard around the world" was. At concord the colonials had defeated the British.

    A congress that also met in Philadelphia. It met after the start of the warfare of the American Revolution. It managed the colonial war effort.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Olive Branch Petition
    An attempt to try to avoid a full-blown war with Britain. but then Britain did not listen to the colonists. So the colonists sent the proclamation of rebellion which made the colonists looks like traitors even though the petition had not even reached the King of Britain.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A statement adopted by the congress on July 4th 1776. It declared that the United States would be an independent country and no longer a part of Britains empire.
