    Tita has been born because her mom cried so much from choping onions. This is the first time we really meet our main characters, Tita and Mama Elena.

    Pedro and Rosaura get Married
    Tita has fallen in love with Pedro but she cannot marry so Pedro marries Rosaura to be closer to Tita.
    "I am sure I will be, since through this marriage I have gained what I really wanted: the chance to be near you, the woman I really love. . . ." Page 38

    Gertrudis Runs away
    Gertrudis ran away after eating quail in rose petal sauce. After, Mama Elena refused her very exsistance, this shows what type of mother Mama Elena was.
    "The horse, which seemed to be obeying higher prders too, kept galloping as if it already knew their ultimate destination, even though Juan had thrown the reins aside and was passionately kissing and embracing Gertrudis." Page 56

    Roberto is Born
    Roberto, Pedro and Rosaura's son is born and baptized. Rosaura cannot produce Milk so Tita must feed him creating a bond between Pedro, Roberto, and Tita.
    "She didn't know how long she had knelt in prayer, but when she pried her eyes open, the dark tunnel of a moment before had been transformed into a red river, an erupting volcano, a rending of paper.Her sister's flesh opened to make way for life." Page 72

    Tita is feeding Roberto and becoming very close to him and Pedro. Once Mama Elena suggests a job for Pedro and they must move, Tita is crushed.

    Mama Elena sends Tita off with Doctor John to be taken to a madhpuse because all Tita focuses on is a pathetic dead baby pigeon.
    "'Fine, if she is acting crazy, then I'm going to put her in an asylum. Ther's no place in this house for maniacs!' And without a moment's delay she sent Felipe dor Dr. Brown to take Tita to an insane asylum." Page 100

    John Tries to Rekindle Tita's Fire for Life
    John did not take Tita to an asylum like Mama Elena had asked, instead she lives with him. One day while making matches, John says to Tita she ought to rekindle her matchbox.
    "A pleasant warmth grows within us, fading slowly as time goes by, unitl a new explosion comes along to revive it. Each person has to discover what will set off those explosions in order to live, since the combustion that occurs whne one of them is ignighted is what nourishes the soul." Page 115

    Tita returns to the Ranch
    Tita returns after hearing the ranch was plumaged. Much to her mother's dislike Tita begins to take care of her again.
    "It was a good thing she hadn't said anything, because Tita returned to the ranch after hearing about the calamity, Chencha's pious lie whould have been shattered by Tita's splendid beauty and radiant energy." Page 129

    Mama Elena Dies
    Mama Elena did not trust Tita's cooking so she would take Ipecac and died within a month of Tita's return.
    "Sometimes these measures alone sufficed, but occasionally she felt sharp pains in her belly, and then she took, in addition, a swig of ipecac and another of squill onion as a purgative. That did not last long. Mama Elena died within ammonth, wracked by horrible pains accompained by spasms and violent convulsions." Page 136
  • Esperanza is Born

    Pedro and Rosaura have another child named Esperanza, Tita did not become close to Esperanza at all.
    "Now she knew better than to establish such an intense relationship with a child who wasn't her own."

    After Mama Elena dies Tita can now dow hatever she please. Pedro visits her in a room and makes love to her for the first time.
    "Without answering, Pedro extinguished the lamp, pulled her to a brass bed that had once belonged to her sister Gertrudis, and throwing himself upon her, caused her to lose her virginity and learn of true love." Page 158

    After Rosaura begs Tita for help Tita is surprised by seeing Mama Elena's ghost whioch reprimands her.
    "The napkin flew into the air and an icy shiver ran down Tita's spine. She turned around and was stunned to find herself face to face with Mama Elena, who was giving her a fierce look."

    After Tita and Pedro make love she believes she is pregnant and doesn't know how to tell Pedro or the rest of the family.
    "'Pedro, I need to talk to you alone.' 'That's easy why not go to the dark room? There we can do it without anyone bothering us. I've been waiting for you to come there for several days.' 'Those visits in the dark room are just what I have to talk to you about.'" Page 175

    Gertrudis has come home, a general in the revolution, and acts like nothing has happened.

    While talking in the kitchen to Gertrudis, Pedro comes in and hears of Tita being pregnant.

    While making love Pedro climaxe and dies, Tita feels remorse and begins to eat candle lighting a fire inside her and Pedro and Tita live and love on in the after life together.
