Why it's important: He sparked the interests of many people to explore North and South America because he found so much gold.

Pineda's Voyage

What he did: The map he made of the coast led others exploring the land on the Gulf Coast.
Why it's important: It led the others to exploring the Gulf Coast.

Devaca's voyage

Leader: Narvaez
Purpose: Help find more gold in Texas

Devaca discovers Texas

Apr 15, 1528

How: They built boats and shipwrecked on Galveston.
How long: 4 years

Fray Marcos and Esteban journey

Jan 1, 1539

Goal: To study the land and North Evaluate
What happened:Esteban gets killed by the Zunis when he wanted their women and food,
What did he report: Fray Marcos reports seeing the most beautiful grand and golden city.

Moscoso' Expedition

Jan 1, 1539

Leader: Moscoso took over for De Soto when he died
Purppose: To explore Florida to Texas since no one had actually done that after Pineda made the map.
What happened: Discovered the Mississippi River
Importance/Report: They gave the same report as Coronado did and the Spanish didn't return for 150 years because of these bad reports.

Coronado's expedition

Looking for: The 7 golden cities for Spain
Two cities: Quivera and Cibola
Importance: He gives a bad report about Texas and wuth this, the Spanish diesn't return with any major expeditions for a long time.
