    Christopher Columbus first set sail for Spain in 1492. He was in search for a new route to Asia. But what he found instead was land, what is now called North and South America. He explored The Caribbean and first landed in The Bahamas. Christopher is credited for finding the new world and bringing back goods and gold to the queen. He made 4 trips and started the Spanish exploration in North america.

    Pineda explored the coast from Florida to Texas. He also mapped the coast from Florida to Texas coast and made a report of the region. His map also helped others explore the land on the gulf coast.
  • Cortes voyage

    In 1519 he set sail to Mexico to find gold. He conquered Mexico for Spain and he also conquered the Aztecs(An Indian tribe). He inspired so many people to explore the Americas because of all the gold he found.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
    The purpose of their journey was to study the land to the north. Later on Esteban was killed by the natives and Fray Marcos reported about the 7 cities of gold he had heard of.
  • Coronado's expedition

    Coronado searched for Quivera and Cibola. Fray Marcos was their guide ,but left because he thought he would be blamed for not finding any gold. Later he discovered that the turk was lying to him about Quivera having any gold. The importance of his journey was that he reported not to go to texas which caused no major expeditions for a 150 years.
  • Moscoso's Expedition

    Moscoso's Expedition
    The actual leader of the expedition was De Soto ,but Moscoso took over after his death. De Sotp died at the Mississippi river of a fever. He reported the same as Coronado, that texas was horrible, no gold, and mean indians.
