    Cortes set sail for Mexico with 500 men. He heard stories of their wealth and gold. He then conquered it for further exploration.

    The expedition of 250 to 300 men was led by Panfilo de Narvaez. After surviving a hurricane near Cuba, the expedition landed on the west coast of Florida (near Tampa Bay) in April 1528, claiming the land for Spain.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
    Fray Marcos went looking for the 7 cities of Cibola. He tells the Spanish about these beautiful golden cities. This makes them want to explore the cite.It was evidence provided in his 1539 report that triggered launch of the expedition the following year. Esteban was enslaved by one of the soilders but was able to translate with the Indians. He then occumpied Fray Marcos.

    the entire army marched east to the Texas panhandle, and in May Coronado and thirty horsemen rode north to Quivira, which was located in Kansas. Again finding no wealth, they returned to the Albuquerque area.He discovered the Grand Conyon and the Palo Duro Canyon. If him and his men didn't then our history wouldn't be found out until later. Texas would have less history and an uncovered landmark. Also would the U.S

    End of De Vaca's Exploration
    A crew of 500 men made 5 rafts but sadly 3 sank. The other 2 hpoping to get to the Spanish settlement in Mexico landed at Galveston, Texas. Narvez died by this point. The surviors which included De Vaca were stranded and grouped with the Indians. They only ate raw corn and walked on.
