    It was important because he discovered new land and interested the Spanish in North America because of the riches he returned with.

    It sparked interest in North and South America because he found so many riches.

    The purpose of the expidition was to explore the North American coastline.

    He got to Texas in 1528.

    Fray marcos sent in a man to what he thought was the seven cities of gold.
    That man was killed.
    He then reports seeing a city grander than Mexico city, and sends Cornado in.
