    -Celtic people from the 8th - 6th century BC settled heavily in Northern and Central Spain
    -Greek geographers give the name Iberian, probably connected to the Ebro River, to tribes settled on the southeastern coast
    -The Iberian language continued to be spoken during early Roman times
    -There are 28 syllabic and alphabetic characters in the Iberian language, most of unknown origin, but some derived from Greek and Phoenician systems
