Christopher Latham Sholes

Book Matches were created by Joshua Pusey. He was tired of carrying the traditional box of matches because they were too big and bulky. After 7 years of no success, he finally got noticed when Mendelsohn Opera Company in New York had book matches as an opening. They soon began selling just as fast as they were being made. Book Matches were a big hit!
