    Japan invades Eastern China to expand their empire, which caused them to starts the Second Sino-Japanese War. On December 13, 1937, "The Rape of Nanking" occurs. Almost 300,000 Chinese were murdered. Japan is highly criticized yet again by Western powers.

    World War Two started when Germany attacked the rest of Europe. Japan saw its oppurtunity to take over parts of Southeast Asia, because Europe, who had colonized most of that region, was at war, fighting against many countries.

    Japan bombed Pearl Harbor because they felt that the United States' power was a threat to their growing empire in Southeast Asia. Because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the U.S.A. entered World War 2 and started the Pacific War.

Japan was one of the strongest Asian countries/empires at the time, and was feared by the rest of Asia.

    The United States dropped the first atomic bomb in Hiroshima on August 6, 2011 because they wanted Japan to surrender to U.S. forces. It was extremely distructive. However, because Japan refused to do so, they dropped the 2nd atomic bomb in Nagasaki.
