    sojourner truth or Isabella Baumfree, her given name, was born in 1797, in ulster country, new york on the colenel jahannes hardenbergh estate as a slave. this Impacted her whole life for many reasons, she was african american so she would not have the basic rights one, and two, it was the beginning of her life.

    sojourner truth was sold when she was just nine years old to a man named john neely for $100 in addition to a herd of sheep, this affected her life alot because she had lived with her family all her life and now she would have to be seperated from them which was very hard, also she only knew how to speak dutch so it was very hard to communicate with neely, he spoke english, this also affected her because she learned how to speak english at this time since neely would beat her if she spoke dutch

    when sojourner truths dad comes to visit her on neely,s farm, she begs him to take her away because she hatedhow mean neely and his wife were to her but there was nothing her father could do. this hurt her and made her feel hopless that she would ever have a better life and made her realize that she had a passion for ending slavery and I think this is the beginning of fame and thrive to ened slavery.( coureer)

    when sojourner was sold again to a man named John dumont I think it came to her that being sold would be somthing she would have to get used to and i think this also stands out to her because she had to move further away from her family.

    as she continued to live on the dumont farm, she fell in love with a fellow slave named robert, but when dumont realized they were in love he forbade them to love each other since he did not want to have to put up with slave babies. This , I think was ver y hard for her because for a long time she had not had anything good in her life and when she finally had something it was taken away from her.

    In 1826 she ran away from the farm In hope of finding justice. this affected her whole life becuase she did not have a plan or place to go, and she had lived on the farm for many years and finally she was standing up to that and doing somthing about it.

    after escaping the dumont farm, she is taken in by wagenan family who takes her in and loves her like an equal adult which makes a huge impact on her because she had never had a family take her into thier home and feed her and take care of her.

    of all the things that had happened to sojourner truth, I think this one makes the biggest impact in her life because freedom to slave is passed in new york where she lives, so she basically has freedom which is somthing she had never expierienced before.

    After slaves gain freedom sojournergoes to get her son but finds that he and other slave were being illegaly kept, so from1827-1828 she worked hard and gave speeches to finally free him which she did. this was big for her because she got to see her son again and live the life that she had always dreamed of.

    after freeing her son she moves to many places and grows stronger as she spoke about all of the events I have coved and how they impacted her,and many years later she dies but will never be forgotten because of the impact she has made in womans rights.
