SIFE UVic is founded
In 2009 SIFE UVic was founded by two students, Kurtis Morrison and Shawn Weber to make a measurable and impactful difference within the community. -
National Competition - Canada
SIFE UVic attended the national competition, held in Toronto. As a new team we competed with a few projects that were in the early stages of creation, and came out with more inspiration for the coming year than ever before. -
Partnership with Jr. Achievement
Link to Jr. Achievement's website We partnered with Jr. Achievement and worked with high school students to help them understand and prepare for life outside of high school, and to inform them of the entreprenurial opportunties open to them career-wise. -
Let's Can Hunger
SIFE UVic worked throughout the year as part of Campbell's "Let's Can Hunger" initative to alieveiate hunger in Victoria. Through various food drives and other events we raised over 10,000 pounds of food, for the Mustard Seed Food Bank in Victoria -
SIFE Orientation Weekend
Seven SIFE members travelled to Vancouver to participate in the Orientation Weekend at BCIT. They came back energiezed with ideas and inspiration to keep making SIFE UVic the best it can be. Thanks to Gareth Coombes for coming up with some awesome recruitment ideas! -
TEDxUVic - Embrace your Potential
The first live TEDx event held in Victoria is taken on as a project by Rebecca McCarthy. -
Opposites Attract Art Auction
SIFE UVic teamed up with the Visual Arts Undergraduate Society for their annual art auction. SIFE UVic handled the publicity for the event, and 1/2 of the proceeds from the night's silent and live auction went towards to the Mustard Seed food bank, contributing to our overall goal of 10,000 pounds of food or dollars. The art auction raised over $600 dollars for the Mustard Seed. Way to go project leaders, Chloe Rudd and Meredith Ball! -
TEDxUVic - Embrace Your Potential
On March 12th 2011 the first live TEDx event was held at UVic, hosted by SIFE students. Approximately 100 people attended, and listened to six speakers, from within the University and the community who had harnessed their talents and were working toward making the world a better place. Fifteen non-profit organizations were invited to set up booths before, during and after the event so that those in attendance who were inspired to make change could quickly contact an organization of interest. -
Western Regional Competition
Three SIFE students attended the Western Regional Competition in Calgary and competed in the Entreprenurship category. Many thanks to Steve Johnson, Tyson Crabb and Angie Wei for their dedication and for bringing back so many new ideas for our club! -
10,000 Pounds of Food
We finally reached our goal of 10,000 pounds of food donated to the Mustard Seed Food Bank in one year! Awesome job Chloe Rudd, Meredith Ball, Tyson Crabb, Steve Johnson, Gareth Coombs, Shawn Weber, and Kurtis Morrison! -
JA Titan
Six SIFE UVic students talked to grade 12 classrooms around Victoria about applicable entreprenurship. This project would eventually help us win 3rd place in the Western Regional Conference in 2012 -
Students Eat - Victoria launched
As part of the Campbell's Let's Can Hunger campaign, Rebecca McCarthy organized media awareness for sustainably solving hunger issues on campus, and in the community. By providing a "go-to" resource about student discounts, and student meal deals on and off campus, she helped to alieviate the cost of living in Victoria, address hunger issues and promoted local business. -
FreshLook Consulting
FreshLook Student Consultants hit the ground running with two local clients trying to re-brand and run more efficiently. Spearheaded by Kurtis Morrison, this project would eventually help us place 3rd at the 2012 Western Regional Competition -
SIFE RBC Newcomer Advacemet Lantern Festival
To introduce our new Financial Literacy program SIFE UVic students hosted a Lantern Festival for Chinese New Year to meet the community. Sixty people came out to this event where food, traditional song and dance, and a financial literacy quiz were presented to bring together campus, and community. -
Western Regional Competition 2012
At the Western Regional Competition, six students went and competed in both two categories. Financial Literacy presented our SIFE RBC Newcomer Advancement Workshops, which had yet to be launched fully. Secondly, Entreprenurship competed with FreshLook Student Consultants and JA Titan. SIFE UVic placed in Entreprenurship with 3rd place. Thanks Kurtis Morrison and Tyson Crabb! -

Passport to Agriculture
Passport to Agriculture is a program created to spark conversations between youth and the people who make and grow the goods that they use day to day. From the farmers at Haliburton Farms, to the ladies working on behalf of the Didi Society and their fair trade wares, kids of all ages will have fun looking, seeing and tasting what the island and the world has to offer.
