    Copernican Revolution

    First crucial step in the developement of the modern scientific world-view. Idea that the sun was at the center of the universe and that the planets, includind earth, orbitted around it. After being banned by the Catholic Church in 1616, this view of the universe became official within 100 years.
  • Discovery of the Cell

    Robert Hooke discovered cells as the building blocks of life. he stated that cells reproduce, replicate, and preexist in all living organisms. Cells emerged on earth about 3.5 billion years ago.
  • Atomic Bomb

    First ever major conference was held to discuss the possibility of an atomic bomb at the University of California, Berkeley. This meeting was hosted by Robery Oppenheimer and was the beginning of the first nuclear age. Major advancements in phisics and chemistry contributed to this breakthrough.
