Her Passion for Acting

From Chloe to Dove
When Dove was 15, her father committed suicide. After his passing, her family discovered that her dad was gay, and felt obligated to stay in the closet. Her father called her Dove, so she changed her name in honor of him.

Her Acting Debut
AT the age of 17, Dove was asked to play the lead roles of twins Liv and Maddie, on a show of the same name. Though it was hectic, Dove managed to develop her acting and the show was a big success. She explains that it was different from previous roles, as you had to do twice as much work in the same time. The first season premiered in fall 2013.

The Girl and the Dreamcatcher
Dove Cameron teamed up with her co-star, Ryan McCartan, to form a pop group called The Girl and the Dreamcatcher. They released their debut digital single in 2015. It was called "Written in the Stars" and had an extended play.

Descendants
In 2015, Dove is cast as the lead role in the first Descendants movie. She played Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, and the love interest of Prince Ben, the son of Beauty and the Beast. This movie was viewed by 6.6 million people. Her solo song "If Only" took No.94 on the Top 100 billboard.

In 2016, Ryan McCartan asked Dove to marry him. They had been dating for three years, meeting on the show.
