    Teresa was born in Castilian town of Avila on the 28th of March 1515. She was her parent’s third blessing out of the nine children they had given birth too. (Image- A photo of where St Teresa of Avila was born).

    When Teresa was five years of age she had persuaded her older brother to run away with her to the land of Moors to profess their faith in God and beg to be beheaded. As they were on their way their uncle sopped them and took them back home. After this happened she began to convince herself that she was a major sinner.     At the age of fourteen Teresa’s mother passed away. Teresa’s mother did not live a very easy life. She was very interested in romance novels and was a very calming and humble woman. Her husband was against her reading romance novels that she felt pressured to keep them hidden away from him. Teresa and her mother bonded in many ways, they both liked romance novels.     At the age of sixteen, Teresa’s father sent her to the Augustinian Nuns Convent due to her attitude. For the first couple of months she hated it, she wasn’t used to it. After a while she began to enjoy it because she began to find her faith again and partly because the convent was not as strict as her father was.     After some years had passed by in the convent it was time for Teresa to think about her future and where she wanted to with it. She had the option of getting married or taking her religious life further. She had chosen the religious life because she felt as if it was the only safe place for her. On the other hand she thought deeply about marriage, but she then thought twice about it because her mother’s marriage, which ruined her mother and her mother’s life.     Once she was permanently at the Carmelite Convent she began to teach and preach mental prayer. She was asked to teach mental prayer but she was more interested in flattery, vanity and gossip and decided to put her faith aside. Teresa had fell and had a seizure and woke up four days later. She had been paralyzed for three year, which was, and excuse for her to not embrace her catholic faith. She thought, as a major sinner God would have not give his mercy to her.     A priest had approached Teresa when she was 41 and had tried to bring her back to her faith, but she had told him that when she was praying she felt as if she couldn’t wait for it to be over. However, this inspired her to pray again and she felt as if God had given her many spiritual needs. Such as when she would pray to God she felt as if he would take her soul talk to her and sometimes even her body. She kindly asked God to stop doing this stuff in front of people.     Teresa had gotten permission to up two houses for men whom wished to adopt reforms. During the last two years of her life she opened up three new convents in the far South of Granada, Burgos in the north and at Soria is Portugal.     Teresa suffered from an illness and this took over her entire life. The last words which came out of her life were ‘’My Lord, It is time to move one. Well then, may your will be done. O my Lord and my spouse, the hour that I have longer for has come.
