    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    It was written by King John. It promised his people their own individual rights. its a guide to the constitution. In the first amendment you can see that it has the same judgments for the freedom of speech.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    This was an agreement made by the pilgrims before they got off the Mayflower. They agreed that everything would be civil. This was the first form of government the pilgrims had, like the constitution is for the United States.
  • Fundamentals Orders of Connecticut

    Fundamentals Orders of Connecticut
    The Connecticut colony council changed their government, that forced colonies to have representatives and be governed. This is located in the second section of the constitution, where it says that the government needs representatives.
  • English Bill of Rights

    This limited the powers of rulers and gave the people more rights. The main idea of this right are found in the first ten amendments.

    This was a war between the French and Indians in North America. This was the cause of America Revolution, which led to a change in society including the whole constitution

    Albany Plan of Union
    This was a plan to unify the 13th colonies, and make it one government. It has a huge significance because it gave the founding fathers an idea and helped them when they were thinking about making the constitution.
  • First Continental Congress

    A meeting took place at Carpenters hall between 12 delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies to consider their independence from British. This literally shapes our constitution.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    A meeting intended to help aid the colonial war and make the United States independent. This is found in the Bill of Rights and helped move towards a final constitution.

    A meeting that declared Americas independence. If we didn't have this the constitution would not have been able to be made
  • Articles of Confederation

    Articles of Confederation
    The first constitution that did not work because the people did not follow the laws. This took place after Shays Rebellion, they sat down to rewrite then that ended in the constitution.
  • Virginia Plan

    Virginia Plan
    This was a request by the Virginia delegates to have two houses or chambers. This plan was used in the Article section one for our current way of Government.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    Daniel Shays and his followers protested for closures of farms and debts. The result of this rebellion was anarchy. The continental congress looked at the articles of confederation and revised it to make their very own constitution.
  • New Jersey Plan

    New Jersey Plan
    It was a proposal to structure the United States. The Constitution has this idea by keeping an equal balance on small and large states. Small states get the same amount of representation as the larger sates
  • Three-fifths Compromise

    Three-fifths Compromise
    A compromise reached by northern and southern delegates upon the differences of slaves qualifications as a person; they decided every five slaves would count towards the population as three people. This is reflected in the 13th amendment where slavery was abolished because this compromise was the start of peoples recognizing the Africans Americas are the human.
