The French and Indian war is also know as the seven years' war. The French wanted part of America and they took part of the Ohio River. After that, they kept on conflicting with the British colonies. William Pitt, a British leader, saw the conflicts as a chance to make America a British empire. He paid Prussia to fight in Europe for him while he fought in America with the French. -
The Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 was when the British put boundaries in the Appalachian Mountains at the Eastern part of the Continental Divide. The Angl0-American colonists couldn't settle on lands acquired from the French, which they got in the French and Indian war. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act is also called the Plantation Act or the Revenue Act. The British wanted to stop trading the sugar from the French and Dutch. They wanted to fund enlarged British Empire responsibilities. -
The Stamp Act of 1766
The Stamp Act was made to get more taxes for a British army in America. After it was passed, the colonies went into and uproar. They forced the colonists to buy a British stamp for every document they got. The act was repealed in 1766. -
The Townshend Acts of 1767
The Townshend Acts were passed by the British in 1767 where goods that came to the American colonies were taxed. The American colonists saw the acts as an abuse of power. British troops came to America to enforce the new laws, which caused tension between the Americans and the British. It led to the run-up to the American Revolutionary War. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was very deadly, and it happened on King Street in Boston. At first, it started out with the American colonists and one British soldier. Then, it became very chaotic, very bloody, and it was a slaughter. This massacre paved the way for the American Revolution. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act was when the British Parliament gave permission for the tea company to ship the tea directly to the colonies, without going to Britain first.
