They started Printing Money, setting up post offices, created a continental army who was led by George Washington, and they Sent an olive branch asking the King of England for peace and protection of their rights. In response to this the King hires 30,000 Hessian Soldiers.

This battle was a British victory as the Americans eventually ran out of ammunition for their weapons and were swiftly defeated by the British. However the British suffered heavy losses on their side. The Americans would soon have to make a decision whether to side with the British or the Colonists.
