    Independence from Great Britian sparked the Revolutionary War. The declaration is a formation of the states of the country that was now free states from Great Britian. The signers and Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. The reason for the Revolutionary War and the Declaration of Independence was to be free of Great Britains reign of power to be a country of free states to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

    The making of the American flag is important during a war because it is the symbol of hope for the American people. The American flag reminds people what we're fighting for, which is our freedom. The flag resoluters went through eleven flags before they finally decided on the Revolutionary War flag. The thirteen stars on the flag represent the thirteen colonies or states and the red and white stripes represent hardiness and valor, purity and innocence.

    The French Alliance was the making of an alliance between France and the U.S. to defeat Great Britian. The alliance included that the U.S. would defend France should Great Britian decide to attack them. The United States and France would not make peace with England untill England granted the U.S. their freedom. The treaty was signed in Paris on February 6, 1778 and approved by Congress on May 4, 1778.

    The French had to convince Spain to ally with them because Spain did not want to ally with United States. The joining of Spain helped the U.S. to win the Revolutionary War even more because even though Spain didn't want to join the U.S. their goal was the same which was to defeat Great Britian. WIth Spain intervening, Great Britain had to spead their resources much thinner which eventually made their armies collapse.

    Five hundred North Carolinians and three hundred South Carolinians teamed up and divised a plan to defeat the British camp. The British retreated and the Carolinians drank all their liquor and become drunk when the British came back with more of their troops the Carolinians only had about two hundred men to fight with and their leader decided that it was best to retreat because they were surrounded. The next engagement lasted four hours in which the Carolinians defeated the British.

    In this battle, the French made a strategic move that didn't let reinforcements of the British come to their aid and also at the same time didn't let them retreat or escape. This major move also prevented the British from interfering in the Americans and the French getting provisions and aid to the soldiers fighting at Yorktown through Chesapeake Bay. This finally made the British surrender and start negotiating which resulted in the British recognizing the independence of the United States.

    When America thought that the French were going to negotiate with the British they decided it was time to negotiate with them. The treaty gave the U.S. the recognition of the U.S. being independent. Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, John Jay, and Henry Laurens signed the Preliminary Articles of Peace.

    The Preliminary Articles of Peace made the foundation for the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris is a more concrete document that states that Britian recognizes the U.S. as independent. This document officially ended the Revolutionary War.
