-American forces heard about it

-British won but paid heavily

-Britain​ wanted to take New York away from America

Battle of Yorktown

Sep 28, 1781

-French took control of the Chesapeake Bay, the Americans took control of the land
-Prevented Cornwallis and his British army from getting goods
-Finally, Britain surrendered to the Americans
