American colonists started to occupy two hills of British territory and Britain declared war. Britain won the battle but lost way more people than the colonists did.

Battle of Trenton

Colonists win a battle with a sneak attack on Christmas night while the British soldiers were partying. They pushed the British troops out of New Jersey. It was the first Battle won by the colonists.

Battle of Princeton

Dec 27, 1776

Colonists sneak attack once again to push british troops out of New Jersey. They captured the town and military supplies.

Battle of Saratoga

Oct 17, 1777

Gen. Gates led the colonists to attack Britain. The colonists win and kept the south connected with New England. It was a major victory for them and created the French alliance.

Valley Forge

Dec 1, 1777

Colonists were getting sick and starving and started dying because they have no support from major cities. Colonies survived and won.

Battle of Yorktown

Oct 1, 1781

Colonists encounter British while moving south. They trapped the British. They both wanted control over Charleston River. This was the last battle for independence and the colonies won.

The Treaty of Paris

Sep 3, 1783

Britain, Spain, France, and the Colonies sign peace treaties. Britian decided the cost of keeping the colonies was too much and not worth it. North America was devided between Britain and Colonies.
