  • Period: 1095 to 1291

    The Crusades

    The Crusades were religious wars between Christians and Muslims started so they can secure control of holy sites. There were a least 8 Crusades. The Crusades ultimately resulted in defeat for Europeans and a Muslim victory they successfully extended the reach of Christianity and Western civilization. The Crusade started in November 1095.

    The Black Death

    The black death was a devastating global epidemic that struck Europe and Asia in the mid 1300's. The Black death killed more than 20 million people in Europe which is almost 1/3 of the population. The Jews are accused to be the cause of the plague. February, 1349 was one of the worst massacres of Jews in the Black Death it takes place on Valentine Day. 2,000 Jewish were burned alive.

    Early Renaissance

    The Early Renaissance was informed by humanism and classical Roman and Greek art architecture. It was led by Brunelleschi who works for architecture. The Early Renaissance was known for art focused on realism. The Early Renaissance started in the 14th century which is on January to 31 December.

    Age of Exploration

    The Age of Exploration was a period of time when the European nations began exploring the world. They discovered new routes to India and the Americas. It increased knowledge of the world and allowed Europeans to travel easily across the globe by sea. It started on January and ended in December.
  • Period: 1495 to 1527

    High Renaissance

    The High Renaissance was a short period of the most exceptional artistic production in the Italian states, particularly Rome, capital of the Papal States. High Renaissance art is defined as painting, sculpture, architecture. Humanism was the main Philosophy.
  • Period: 1517 to 1555

    The Reformation

    The Reformation was a religious reform movement that swept through Europe. I Reformation started because of problems with indulgences, the Pope being power hungry, and the Church becoming corrupt. The Reformation is the act of reforming.
  • Period: 1527 to

    Late Renaissance

    The Late Renaissance is also called the Mannerist period
    and is characterized by artworks took other works of art as models. It's a style in European art that emerged in the later years of the Italian High Renaissance. The Renaissance ended with the fall of Rome in 1527.
  • Period: 1543 to

    Scientific Resolution

    The Scientific Revolution was the drastic change in scientific thought that took place during the 16th and 17th centuries. Scientific Revolution includes the rise of empiricism and new inventions. It replaced the Greek view of nature that had dominated science for almost 2,000 years.
