During the Renaissance period there were rules that dictated what types of clothing and even colors that the classes could wear. The middle and lower classes couldn't wear silk, lace, fur, velvet. The flying machine was one of Leonardo's most popular inventions, which was also known as ornithopter. The design was inspired by winged animals. The wingspan was 33 feet. The frame was made of pine. It was covered in raw silk to create a light firm coat. Link text

Leonardo da Vinci, Benvenuto Cellini, and Andrea Del Sarto all had worked at his court. Francis and his sister were the patrons of François Rabelais, Clément Marot, and Guillaume Budé. The first actual helicopter wasn’t built until the 1940s. It is believed that Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches were like the modern day flying machine.
