  • Lincoln's 10 percent plan

    Lincoln's 10 percent plan
    This plan stated that amnesty would be granted, and a state could be readmitted into the Union when ten percent of the states population had taken an oath of allegiance to the U.S .The state colud then, formally elect a state government. Also, a state legislature could write a new constitution, it also had to abolish slavery forever.

    This amendment was created to abolish slavery,and involuntary servitude as well.
  • Wade- Davis Bill

    Wade- Davis Bill
    This bill never took effect because it was pocket vetoed by Lincoln. It required fifty percent of a state’s white males take a loyalty oath, in order to be readmitted to the Union. In addition, states were required to give blacks the right to vote.

    This was created to help with the transformation of blacks from slavery to freedom. It gave them land, built schools, clothes, food, medicine, and labor contracts.

    Pardons would be granted to those taking a loyalty oath.No pardons would be available to high Confederate officials or people owning property of $20,000. The state then needed to abolish slavery before being readmitted.

    All people born in the United States were granted citizenship without reguard to race, color, or previous condition.
  • Ku Klux Klan

    Ku Klux Klan
    This was a group of people that were extremely racist towards black people. They wore white hoods to hide thier identities, and to try and scare the blacks into thinking they were the souls of conferderates coming back to get them. They would burn schools, homes, and crosses. Very torturous and violent. Its original founder was a man named Nathan Forrest.

    This act ,divided the South into five military districts. It also required the southern states to elect new government officials. Finally, the new southern state governments needed to pass the 14th Amendment.

    A Political Scam involving the republicans. They made millions of dollars off of federal taxes in liquor.
  • Compromise of 1877

    Compromise of 1877
    This was a compromise between the republicans and democrats, that was brought on by the election of 1876. The democrats said that they would accept Hayes 8-7 win of the electoral vote, and make him president, if the republicans walked away from senate, and they did. Reconstruction ended after Hayes became president.
