Leibniz was born on July 1st, 1646 in the Holy Roman Empire.
-
Just two days after his birth he was baptized.
-
Just a year after his father passed away, who was a professor at the University of Leipzig. Leibniz inherited his father's library, in which he began studying philosophical and theological works.
-
Leibniz began college at his father's University at the age of 15.
-
Leibniz earned his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy.
-
In 1666, Leibniz wrote his first book, "De Arte Combinatoria", at the age of 19. He also received his doctorate to practice law during this year.
-
In 1672 Leibniz went to Paris, where he met Christiaan Huygens, who helped Leibniz perform a self-study which eventually elevated him into making huge mathematical contributions to integral calculus.
-
Leibniz noted that he discovered a breakthrough in calculus on November 11th, 1675. He had discovered the use of integral calculus to find the area under the curve y = f(x).
-
It wasn't until the year 1684 that Leibniz published his first paper on Calculus. It was the publication of, "Nova methodus pro maximis et minimis." Which included a new way of solving for maximums and minimums.

Leibniz passed away in the year 1716 in Hanover.
