Erikson's Sixth Stage, Intimacy vs. Isolation
During this stage, the major crisis centers on forming intimate, loving relationships with other people or keeping to oneself. She explores her relationship which may lead to a long-term commitment with someone other than a family member. -
Rhonda (age 40) volunteers with the Bluebird Monitoring team because she enjoys nature and the interaction of other people. She feels useful in this volunteerism because she thinks it will ensure birds are there for future generations
Erikson's seventh stage, generativity vs. stagnation
The crisis is between making a mark on the world through contributions of personal time (generativity) or withdrawing from society (stagnant), being uninvolved.
